The following characterizes the wcm-master in nutshell: The wcm-master is a double-degree program of the universities of Oldenburg (Germany) and Groningen (The Netherlands). Our courses are targeting at three main objectives of the scientific fundamentals one need to know to manage the natural, social and economic resources of waters and coastal zones. Courses from marine environmental sciences, sustainability economics and management, and environmental and infrastructure planning are combined to a interdisciplinary curriculum. Next to courses in environmental law and basics of planning and geography, application-oriented seminars make your studies perfect. The enrolment-fees (circa 250€ each semester) and especially the contributions for the program (1600€ each semester in Oldenburg) are straight for your benefit. Public transport in Oldenburg is included; excursions and additional coast are co-financed by the program. How do the high costs of 1600 euro per semester emerge? Is the information about 1600 Euros per semester right? Is there any possibility to get any refund? And how much would that be?
When would the students get the refund and what would it depend on?
Do the students have to pay for the trips to Groningen or does the university ticket cover those costs? How often do they have to go to the University of Groningen in each semester?
What kind of certificate of English knowledge is necessary if you want to apply? Are the motivation paper and the recommendatory letter supposed to be written in English?
The study program wcm master is an application oriented study program, which is focused on the communication of scientifically established know-how about resource management, especially of costal areas.
No special final degree is required, but any study program which deals with topics like environmental management, ecology or sustainability.
Those non-consecutive study programs do have to raise tuition fees, which immediately prove advantages to the study program. Your fees pay excursions, workshops, lectures by experts; by this you get back some of your „money“. The students do have direct and immediate influence on the planning of the program’s events.
Furthermore your fees finance your trips to Groningen, though the majority of your lectures and events in your first two semesters will take place in Oldenburg.
This will change in the second year; Groningen is your study place in the third semester. Your master thesis can be written at both universities either in Oldenburg or in Groningen. Though you don’t have to commute during the semester, there is a pretty good bus transfer between the two cities.

Lectures and any other event and program will be in English; this is clearly based on the fact that the program is an international study program. Your application and recommendation letter should as well be written in English.
